Roommates

Roommates are the reality of most living situations. Whether it is your family, friends, or strangers. Most of us (especially in today's economic climate) have roommates. Getting along with them is pivotal to a peaceful life, because if there is arguing amongst this will inevitably disrupt the harmony in your life.Unfortunately the most you can do is try to find people who live in a similar style to you, and will respect your boundaries.

My roommate is my boyfriend. I call him the Turtle because he takes forever to do his chores. Often he'll let dishes sit for a few days, before doing them when it's his turn. I've gotten better about not doing them for him. I think it's important that if he's eating he should be cleaning too, and also aware of the fact that when there is a sink full of dishes I will not cook.Ok it's not a perfect system, but I'm trying.

I also have learned not to complain when he puts dishes away in the wrong place. I would rather he put them away. Then let him get discouraged by me correcting him, on what seems like a meaningless task to him.

I've had this problem too - have you tried using a chore wheel? I actually haven't but I've heard it works well.

Hah and I've also experienced discord over dishes going back in the wrong place, but in that case I'm the perpetrator. I don't understand - why not let entropy rule when it comes to dishes?
